So that was my day. I organised to catch up with a friend this weekend to do a Stranger Things marathon. One of my most favourite shows at the moment. I've seen the first season 5 times! Also here is the persuasive text I wrote about why I want to go on a mission trip:
Since I was 4, I have desperately wanted to go on a
mission trip. Back then I thought I could just get on a plane and travel
anywhere I wanted. My mum promised me when I was 15 we would go together. I'm
pretty sure she thought I would forget. I didn’t. By the age of 5, I wanted to
adopt every orphan in the world. By 6 I had a sponsor child in Africa and
that's when I knew I had to travel there one day. She lived in Uganda and I
just had to visit her. By the time I was 7, I began to understand it isn't as
easy as just deciding to leave, you have to have money, I started saving. All
the pocket money I got went towards a plane ticket. When I was 8, a family we
knew were fundraising to adopt a little girl. I donated my $10. By 9 I was
borrowing all sorts of books from the library about orphans and poor countries.
When playing with my siblings I only ever wanted to play "orphans".
My dreams were filled with little dark-skinned children. When I was 10 I wrote
a short story about two little girls who were adopted. It was chosen out the
kids in my school to go into a "Short stories by Children" book. When
I was 11 I finally had enough for a plane ticket to Africa! I was so excited,
but my mum had told me there was no way I could go until I had enough for a
return ticket. So I continued saving. By 12 I still didn't have enough money.
The world had started becoming more and more dangerous. My mum got more and
more worried about me going to that part of the world. By 13 I had started
thinking it was a bit unrealistic. I knew there was no way I was going to get
to go in just 2 years. By the time I was 14, my friends were talking about what
they were saving up for. "New makeup, jewellery, a special pair of shoes.
Some were even saving for a car. It suddenly sounded silly saying that I had
been saving for the same thing since I was 7 years old. I began thinking about
changing what I was saving up for. Maybe I should want a car or other normal
things. But I still just wanted to go on a mission trip. Now I'm 15, the world
is a dangerous place. I understand now that there is a lot more to it. I want
to help people. But how can I do that when I'm stuck here. My dream is to
travel, see places, people and explore the world. My dream has been the same
for the past 11 years.
QOTD is what is you favourite TV show? Mine are Stranger Things, Riverdale, Friends and Gilmore Girls.
